12A Buyer Behavior

The segment I chose is called the (salty dog) it is very much like the gator segment talked about in class this group came out of the womb to be on the water. I spoke with three people all of them would be considered salty dogs. One is a retired charter captain age 64 the other is currently a charter captain age 32 and the last one was with my tournament partner age 22. Thankfully for me all three of them have the same problem as me and see the benefit of my product. The when, how and where questions were all answered word for word the same as I expected. Loosing schools of fish when they are chartering or tournament fishing has been one of their biggest annoyances. Their need awareness starts out first thing in the morning when the water is calm enough to see the schools of fish. After picking up the first fish or as the day moves along the schools become invisible. They understand why the fish spook or become extremely difficult to locate but have never thought of a solution for their problem. The salty dogs that love to fish inshore and have generations of fishing experience never really came up with a way to fix this problem. The awareness has always been there for a solution to the problem of losing schools. Talking to them about this idea they have all said they feel like they over thought the problem instead of something simple like my idea. I am encouraged by these interviews and their acceptance of my product and am ready to move on to the next step.

  1. Hello Isaac! It seems your idea could be indeed a success! As a professional fisher, the device would be very useful to improve the gains derived from the business. However, and as I said in my previous comment in your other post, I still don't know if it would be worth it to invest such a big amount of money to a maybe small market segment. But again, I'm sure you know more about it than me, so I'm sure it would work!

  2. As said before I think this idea is great. simple is often times the best way to go rather than over thinking and getting to fancy. Many technological products that are made as an affordable way to locate fish are not good at all. Although I do agree with Manuel that it is a smallish market, it is big enough to flourish with this product.
